World Botanical Garden

One last trip in the rental car before our little electric car was finished in the shop, Judy and I headed to the World Botanical Garden, about 10 miles north of Hilo on the Eastern side of the island. That is the wet side and Hilo is purported to get over 100 inches of rain per year. This garden was quite different from other botanical gardens which we have visited. They have many acres. Have added a zip line and once a week host a farmer's market. The variety of flowers and trees was spectacular and a true pleasure. In addition, they have a river that passes through the property. The upper part is a waterfall, as is part of the lower part. Videos of that are included at the end of this page.

The other night we had a full moon in the middle of the night. As is typical of us older folks, sometimes we have to get up in the middle of the night or cannot sleep. Judy was lucky and snapped a picture of the full moon and its reflection on the water--at about 3:30 a.m. Great image.
