Finally catching up on Judy and Mike's adventures

As most of you know by now, we left the island at the end of March, fully vaccinated at the time. We got to spend a month in Carson City participating in our daughter and her family's life for the month. Very enjoyable. Our son and his family came from New York in August and we had a delightful couple of weeks with them. The boys are getting so big and mature. We actually had the complete family together for one weekend which was truly special.

While in Carson City, we began planning for our return to our home in Concord at the end of May. When Hawaii sold, it included much of the furniture so we had to build a household. Maintenance and upgrades were due in Concord. So between figuring out furniture including beds, timing of deliveries and repairs, it was an interesting daily challenge. We also reclaimed the yard and made necessary upgrades including a new fence since part of the old one fell over during a windstorm when we were in Hawaii. We always will have projects and we have some more yard projects to finish. However, some of those can await a little warmer weather. Hamilton has adopted easily and well. We acquired a cat, Rocky, in June. He was about 2 months old then. He is now bigger than Hamilton and we no longer can contain him on our yard. More projects to try to keep him from escaping.

The picture of Judy: we were fortunate to be in San Francisco on a gorgeous, cold December day. We walked to Crissy Field and the Marina and, intending to sit on the Herb Caen bench which, unfortunately was occupied, Judy alighted on another. I, of course, had my trusty camera in hand. As I looked back at Judy, the sun reflected this gorgeous halo around her hair. Snap, snap, snap and this turns out to be one of those rare captures. Please note the reflection in Judy's sun glasses: it is the SF Bay.

We have not yet had the chance to get together with many of you and look forward to doing so in 2022. With nesting behavior about complete, we can now put more energy into socializing and reduce the productivity mode. Who knew retirement could keep one so busy? Mike used to comment that the trouble with work was that it interfered with all the things he wanted to do. Now, he does not have that excuse.

We hope your year ends with health and much happiness. As the country unfortunately goes into another dark winter with the pandemic, there is hope with boosters. We look forward to a warmer and healthier spring.

Love and good health

Judy & Mike
