Groundhog Day 2020 Redux

Aloha one and all. We are hoping all of you are healthy and safe. We think of our family and friends on the mainland often and wonder how all of your are doing. We wish we could see and talk with all of you. This is a scary time for all of us. And it sure seems that "normal" will be different once this virus is conquered.

We are looking forward to travel to the mainland hopefully sometime this summer, maybe even as early as mid-June?!?!?! But we all have to be assured that adequate testing will be in place. How does one keep social distance on an airplane?

While Hawaii Island is small, we are now up to 63 cases; it doubled in the past 4 or 5 days. Turns out that employees at 3 McDonalds in Kailua-Kona, one of which is in a Walmart, tested positive as did family members. Good thing we don't shop at Walmart or eat at McDonalds.

Our garden is coming along well. We now have 45 cacao trees all of which Judy started from seed (which means 45 holes in lava with some having some dirt). Spring in the garden means more flowers blooming, more bugs and more weeds. We are doing are best to keep the bugs at bay. We pull weeds as we walk through the garden areas--never ending here.

Some of our sunsets have been spectacular. Mike is really enjoying his new camera. He is spending time trying to recapture his photoshop skills--a long and time-consuming process and very frustrating.

We did take a nice walk at the Sheraton resort which is closed. The walkways along the water, the shoreline, however, are open. A very peaceful walk. Saw virtually no one. And we walked on the closed golf course and had it all to ourselves. We did see some interesting features along the walk. (The camera has some very nice built in filters including black and white.)

And, we decided it was time to get back to doing some baking. This is our first loaf made using sourdough starter. Very yummy.

What interesting dishes have you been making? Take a picture and send it to us.

Please let us know what and how you are doing. And, please, stay safe.

with love from Judy & Mike
