Whales, Women's March and Super Wolf Moon

An event filled week just passed. We went whale watching out of Kailua-Kona on a gorgeous winter (meaning less warm) day. Whales, of course, are hard to film but with perseverence, we got a couple of shots that are worth sharing. The dolphins (both spinner and bottle nose) were fun. The dolphins like to tease the whales and keeping an eye on the dolphins often helped with seeing where a whale might surface. The view from the boat on this beautiful clear date permitted a nice view of the volcano that we live on:  Hualalai.  The big island is composed of 5 volcanoes and the last eruption of ours was in the early 1800's. In our experience, it has been rare to see Hualalai so clearly without clouds shrowding the top.   This was a week of large surf. The winds were up and the surf was high and dangerous. On the north shore of some of the islands, surfers were out in force. On our island there were some surfers (probably crazy) but the general
