Our little nursery had over 100 plants crammed together

Well, we are getting to crunch time. Judy's brother Corky and his wife Janet arrived to help paint and do what ever else we needed help with. Our little nursery, crammed into a small 10x20 foot area at Kona Zona where we are living, was home to over 100 plants that we have accumulated. 6 truck loads with 4 of us moving plants is what it took to move all of them. The plants are now spread around the outside of the house. And in the short time they have been at the house, they have all grown significantly. Amazing.

One of the plants actually got planted. Great concept: plant 1 plant per day

Some of the 100+ plants moved from our temporary nursery

One of our jobs is to paint the interior of the house. Fine; we have the paint (ordered from Restoration Hardware and sitting in our container for over 1 year). In order to paint, however, the finish on the sheet rock must be done--by tapers and mudders. They finished the greatroom where the kitchen is. And, with Corky & Janet's help, we completed painting of that room. The tapers and muders, however, after getting paid, failed to show up for 8 work days. The lead guy says he was sick and no one could work without him there since he is the QC guy. Well, losing 8 work days has reallly set us back timewise getting into the house. No more $ for the mudders until the job is done.

But the granite guy did his job and the electricians are out in force. After a long day of priming the master bedroom area (bedroom, bath, closets) with Corky & Janet's help, we have kitchen countertops and many outdoor lights installed.

Looking to the backwall of the kitchen area; the stove hood vent is actually black stainless but we have the protective coating still on until the construction is finished

The backwall of the kitchen area in the greatroom; the stove goes in the space between the 2 cabinets and the refrigerator goes in front of the electric plugs

At this point, we hope to start the install of the wood flooring in the greatroom and master bedroom/closet in the upcoming week, after we finish painting the master area. Mike's special knee pads (the kind that go from ankle to above the knee) are primed and ready to go. Once the floor is installed, the dishwasher and range can be put in place in the kitchen. The septic should be completed this week so the toilet can be connected. And hopefully the lights can be installed this week above the kitchen island.

A giant shout-out to Corky and Janet for all their help. We would not be as far as we are without their kind, unflinching help!

A great lesson we learned yesterday: No more 10 hour work days--we are getting too old for that.
