Preparing for a mainland trip

We are almost ready to head to the mainland. It is right in the middle of Mike trying to finish a major part of the upper deck for the lanai and many activities taking place in construction. Our trip will cover a number of things:

  • Visit with Toby and family in New York'
  • Visit with Kim and family in Carson City'
  • Visit with friends'
  • Judy has her Watchman procedure between trips to NY and Carson City.
While JT has normal sinus rhythm her Cardiologist guarantees there is more A FIB in her future. The Watchman reduces risks and allows her to get off anticoagulants. We are keeping fingers crossed that all goes easily and smoothly. Once completed, she cannot fly for 2 weeks so Kim and family have kindly offered to let her convalesce at their home. Once in Carson City, Mike will return to Kona to oversee house construction and work on various building projects.

On May 12, Mike and Judy will meet outside San Diego in San Marcos to attend the wedding of our niece Josie who graduates from Medical School at USC on May 11 (congrats to her). She has been accepted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN for her residency. We look forward to attending her wedding and wishing her and her partner love and success.

We were fortunate to visit the Kona Cloud Forest again with the Kona Camera Club. At least this time no rain and we were able to take pictures. Unfortunately, Mike has been more focused on house construction than editing photos, so none of these to share at this time--hopefully, next Blog Post.

The house continues to take shape. The 10 foot high retaining wall is being backfilled. Once done, no one will ever see the back side of the retaining wall again. And, hopefully, all waterpoofing has been successful.

One of the fun things was the raising of the western most wall. Took 6 people to do it. Quite a feat. Unfortunately, the video is too big to add to this blog post but here is the Facebook link to it: https://www.facebook.com/mike.tiktinsky/videos/10157336096118856/

And, Judy and I planted our first plant on our property: an Apple Banana which has been growing temporarily in our nursery. It was sending roots out the bottom of the pot so required being put in the ground. Don't know how long until we get our first bananas, but maybe by the time we move into the house.....

Love

Judy and Mike
